Stories from our community

Read, learn, and share

Our contributors share practical experiences and reflections that encourage girls and women to explore technology with confidence.

The Girls in Technology blog is a place where community members share ideas and experiences that inspire others to engage with technology. Contributors write about practical topics such as setting up development environments, exploring frameworks, and reflecting on personal journeys into technical work. Each post comes from someone who has learned firsthand, so the tone stays grounded and encouraging rather than abstract. Reading these articles can help beginners and seasoned professionals alike approach problems from a different angle.

Technical writing from the community covers a wide range of subjects, from installation guides and framework walkthroughs to reflections on growth and perspective. Posts like a step-by-step guide to configuring a local Laravel Homestead setup with Vagrant show how deeply practical knowledge can be shared in a clear, approachable form. Such articles give readers something they can try immediately, turning inspiration into a working skillset they can build on over time.

Beyond code, the blog captures the human side of a career in technology. Contributors reflect on expanding their horizons, discovering new interests, and finding confidence in fields they once considered distant. These stories matter because the technology sector benefits from a broader range of voices, and women who document their journeys help reduce uncertainty for those considering similar paths. Sharing the process openly makes entry into technical work feel more welcoming and less mysterious.

The wider mission of Girls in Technology is to empower, inspire, and support girls and women who want to explore the vast scope of information and communication technology. The blog extends that mission by sustaining a common platform where shared knowledge becomes collective strength. Members, students, and professionals can meet, exchange ideas, and stay updated on events, workshops, and gathering opportunities that keep the community connected and actively growing.
